watching british tv from usa

There was a thread that was about watching uk tv online. I replied to it, saying use filmon hdi player. Filmon Hdi is only subscription now, and a bit of a pain. I could tell you all how to set up a proxy, but it can be time consuming.

Well this morning I have found something much better and I know how some of you miss your Brit tv. and it's fairly hassle free. just click on the link and download away.

1. First you have to download vlc media player.

2. make vlc player your default player ( you can do this from your default programs tab in the start menu, select VLC as default)http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

3. download this add on http://www.myp2pforum.eu/threads/25874 ( you can select the right one according to your platform , windows etc)

4. Unzip the file, you;ll see a British Tv.exe. click on that to unpack it

5. a little black screen will appear with a list of all the free channels ( and one bonus HBO) in the uk

6. Type the number or the full name of the channel you want

7. Vlc will automatically open and play said channel in real time.

very cool! Back in the day, I used to have a slingbox in the UK when I was back here in the US. Bit of a PITA, but it did the trick at the time.

yeah i remember a few ppl saying something about slingbox... but this is better for my money. Can anyone who uses these instructions lemme know if it works ok, or not. thanks guys.

seems to work pretty good..

I haven't tried all the channels but I noticed a few don't work like HBO and CBS reality..

Thanks Missus. I'm passing it on to the boss. He worked on the slingbox (that had quit) while we were in England recently. It works okay sometimes and there's an app for Slingbox on the iPod. So he watched some of a very teeny tiny Andy Murray play tennis yesterday.

no hbo works , it comes on at a certain time, i was watching bolt this morning. pretty cool. I'm glad you like it Gemmie.. its nice huh. film on is annoying with all the subsciption ish.. i[m over it. i think i missed coronation street. If anyone wants to know how to set up a proxy so you can watch bbc iplayer and itvplayer, i can post it here. please like me know.

I know a enough about computers to get myself in a bind...but if you would post what ever it is I need to do to set up the BBC television for my SO I would greatly appreciate it. I feel so bad when he is glued to his lap top trying to watch a updated list of events.....and lemme tell you ...that man he is dedicated to those races. lol

yankie you can use the vlc player and the add on to watch wimbledon in real time, and motd. btw world cup is on espn. but if you want to know how to set up a proxy to watch bbc iplayer and itv player. here it is

1. Tor ( not the one with the tor browser but the tor bundle) https://www.tor project.org/download.html.en
2. mozilla firefox
3. foxy proxy https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2464

The exit nodes you put in the tor file are: AoF, yieV2eey, 3x0rcyst5p4dd3dc311, TickleMeElmo, Josephine, AMPD, LoveLibertyJustice

give it a try should take you about an hour. tweek it a little .if it doesnt work using the predefined patterns in mozilla, then use foxy proxy: tor setting , it takes a bit longer but i pretty much use it to watch bbc and itv player.

this is not difficult, but not piss easy either. if you take your time, it gets done.

Glad this thread got resurrected because I was going to look for it. My husband used it to watch Formula 1 British Grande Prix in real time yesterday, instead of waiting for Fox to broadcast at 11 am. Just wanted to thank Missus. It worked well.
