But the gun control crowd claims if you need a cop they will be in the area within a few minutes. So no need to own a gun for protection. This blows that theory out of the water.

why is there a gun in my pocket? because i can't fit one of those fat, donut eating cops in there.

this one?

Maywood, CA to lay off all city employees, dismantle Police Department

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/06/sheriffs-dept-to-patrol-maywood-while-city-employees-now-face-lay-offs.html

Yep that is it, what a bloody joke.

Yeap, Mexicans. As usual.

It's called a budget [aka money]. In legacy member-esque [layman's terms], with billions of dollars being spent on group x, that leaves diddly-squat for others - like an entire Police department or Americans living in their own country.

Perhaps Mr USA! USA! herself can find me the equivalent ever happening in AUS.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

As per usual BY postings, zero facts and loads of racist conjecture. I think I shall bookmark this thread just to link it to you every time you try to say that you post substantive threads.

Your state is bankrupt dude, not mine.

For something to become racist, it must be focusing on belittling a particular race. Good to know you finally acknowledge that the majority of illegal aliens in America come from one particular group. In other words, you said it not me.

This has nothing to do with immigrants. This has to do with the fact that the city lost its insurance. They were given a set of parameters most importantly was the hiring of a city manager. They failed to do any of it, hence they lost their insurance. They did a cost-benefit analysis and determined that it was cheaper to contract out to the county sheriff's department than to run their own department. You really should stop perpetuating the immigrant angle Indigo, ignorance is no excuse.

Can't get anything past you Captain obvious. Just in case your uber sharp analyst skills failed you, I made a hyperbole statement.

Nevertheless, the statement still stands though. The state has no money to bale out a police department but sure as hell has the means to borrow billions each year to spend on foreign nationals that have no legal place being there. Furthermore, your states education system was ranked poorly prior to the financial crisis, where is it goign to end now? But hey, you sure have money for those good innocent illegals. Oh wait, my bad, California spends close to a billion per year incarcerating illegal aliens for non-immigration based crimes.

BY, hyperbole suggests some level of discourse. What you posted was a bullshit troll thread with zero facts, and zero intention of actually discussing it. This was just another thinly veiled attempt by you to rail against brown people. Furthermore, you seem to be under the misconception that because I don't profess my hatred of all brown people who are here illegally that I implicitly support illegal immigrants. I don't. But don't confuse that with any willingness to sacrifice any civil rights of any citizen here legally. Come on Harry, just put your hood back on and stop trying to be clever with your racism.

Bill dude, Vasilis in Greek, that's my name. Do I need to post a copy of my drivers license for you guys to get it?

So you are saying Mexicans are all brown, yet I am the racist.

Actually no bud, while it has little to do with the county directly, it's a logical argument regarding the lack of funds. You state is bankrupt yet still bankrolling illegal aliens and their families or offspring. Whereas, had an Australian state gone through the same, fat chance though, that would be the first thing to go period. Actually, all of their services are means [residency] tested as it is.

I don't care if $10 goes to illegals, that's ten dollars less for Americans period. Now factor in the real cost for California which runs in the billions. It's really not that hard to grasp 'Rob'.

Mkay troll. If you say so, you are the expert in all matters, or you have consulted some bloke who knows someone who'se cousin is married to an expert.

Pretty much all the states are broke. California passed a law several years ago which requires a balanced budget. Other states merely run a deficit, or sell bonds, but not california, we are forced to do that, and cut services. Some of those cuts are good, but many others are simply reactionary.

I thought Schwarzenegger recently announced the elimination of welfare and the scaling back of most tax credits.

Depending on who you ask, Californias specific problems, outside of the general economic conditions in the US can be traced back to prop 13 back in 1978.

You still don't get it. $10,000,0000,000 spent on illegal aliens is ten billion dollars more Californians and federal tax payers have to pay up [or borrow] for them. Furthermore, the equivalent reduced from being invested on American, like the minorities Steven posts about and the 12 million Californians living in poverty. You know, as in dirt poor and living in squalor.

Rob, the rest of the first world [yes everyone of them] isn't stupid to be so strict regarding illegal aliens and their access to services. Then again, lib yanks for decades have thought you guys have the answers to everything and are the beacon of humanity. All while pretty-much every other first world country has beaten you guys at your own game.

Also he can't raise taxes because it requires a vote with a 2/3 majority, so cuts are the only option available.

Is there some prop in California regarding taxes?

I just don't understand how a state with an economy larger than Canada and Australia, yet much smaller and with less services, is bankrupt.

OK, i've said it numerous times BY, but you don't seem to get it. So, i'll use a bigger font so that maybe you can get beyond your down syndrome.

I DON'T SUPPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

Was that clear enough for you? I don't think that illegal immigrants should be able to have access to most services, but there are some that they should be able to have access to, like emergency services.

California enacted a law limiting how much property taxes can be increased by. We are bankrupt because of the way we tax. We have low sales taxes to stimulate spending, and low corporate and personal income tax for the highest earners as a catalyst towards investment. Thanks to reaganomics, or voo doo economics, depending on whom you ask.
