Anyone see this story on the national nightly news?

I didn't catch which county it was but it's in CA. Basically, due to the economic crisis they have had to close down [let alone downsize] their entire police force.

To be honest, I didn't catch the name of the county as I was too busy cursing at the TV thinking about the illegal alien advocating fuckwits in that damn state.

If it was one of the town that grow the medical marijuana, it might take the town a while to notice!

If Maywood is anything like upstate New York, this doesn't sound like a bad thing. We have so many overlapping jurisdictions and small counties it's ridiculous. I live in a town of a couple thousand people where nothing ever happens. Yet the police are running around with their sirens constantly. Our county has the second highest property taxes in the nation (first place is taken by a neighboring country).

Effectively they are dissolving this jurisdiction in Maywood and merging with nearby jurisdictions to reduce overhead. It certainly is fiscal conservatism at it's wisest.

Try moving to northern NJ if you want to experience some steep real estate taxes....

Lets see

:ot: Illegal Alien is not a racist Comment.

Now if he had added a race or 2 in there then you could call it that.

Also you think this is conservatives fault?

How about it is both Liberal spending which has put them into debt and now the conservatives are saying enough is enough.

I would say enough blame across the board.

The issue is real he didn't catch the name of the city or didnt provide the news outlet; denial doesn't make it go away.

:ot2:

I think Mad is correct here they wouldn't dissolve the force unless the county or state could police the area adequately.

Maywood is only 1.2 sq. mi. big? How does a city of this size afford anything to begin with?

I'm a bit confused. TBH I DRTFA. Just skimmed it. I understand that this alledged failure of of this city is being blamed on immigrants. So if this puny city had wealthy people who could've paid for all their junks before, why can't they pay now?

This has nothing to do with immigrants. This has to do with the fact that the city lost its insurance. They were given a set of parameters most importantly was the hiring of a city manager. They failed to do any of it, hence they lost their insurance. They did a cost-benefit analysis and determined that it was cheaper to contract out to the county sheriff's department than to run their own department. You really should stop perpetuating the immigrant angle Indigo, ignorance is no excuse.
