Not always. I've seen that happen a few times but the visa expiry is usually dated 6 months from the date of issuance.

I had my medical in April (9th), my interview in May (12th) and the visa expires in November (11th).

All the dates correspond.

:) yeah, I had a feeling that it mightn't have been strictly used as the expiry date, but I remember reading it just the other day...

I had my medical exam on March 01 and my IV visa expires on August 31.

In my case, my visa expires 6 month from medical exam taken.

Medical Exam : March 01

IV Visa Issue Date : June 28

IV Visa Expires on : August 31

Also the letter from the embassy (I got it when my passport back with the visa on it) says

Dear Immigrant Visa Recipient: (Embassy of the United States of America Tokyo, Japan)

2. You must enter the U.S. within the validity period of your visa. Visa validity cannot be later than medical examination validity: most visas are set to expire on the same date as the medical examination. Please hand-carry your passport and the attached envelope (do not pack them in your luggage) and present them to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer at the port of your first entry into the U.S.

I took medical exam too early but I wanted to finish it as soon as possible...I couldn't wait... hehehe :devil:

-Received NVC case number: 6/9/10/10

-Gave NVC my e-mail address & e-mailed DS3032: 6/10/10

-Received NVC e-mails (DS3032 and AOS Fee)& paid AOS fee: 6/11/10

-AOS Fee shows as PAID & paid IV Bill: 6/15/10

-IV Bill shows as paid: 6/6/10

-Received IV instruction packet: 6/8/10

-Received dox from co-sponsor: 10/14/15/10

-Sent AOS package: 10/18/10

-AOS package received: 10/19/10-J.Desmond

-IV Package mailed out: 11/3/10

-AVR says I have an RFE: 11/5/10

-NVC operator told me what my RFE's are: 11/8/10

I've been gone for a few days but nothing changed.

According to UPS they recieved the AoS package more than 2 weeks ago and still NVC hasn't "recieved" it.

Ds-230 has been delivered more than a week ago and nothing.

Grrrrr NVC hurry the f up!!

I already know that if they are slow and give me a september interview I will have to call and reschedule.

I called them and talked to an operator and she couldn't even tell me when to call again and ask.

THis sucks.

By the way. When it comes to re-scheduling an interview, do I call NVC or the Embassy?

I was hoping the embassy because ours here is really small and easy to contact...
