Hey everybody,

if I got it right, we will not be getting a Ds3032 because our lawyer will be automatically assigned.

BUT: we are thinking about doing the rest of this journey ourselves (not all that happy with our lawyer). So, what happens then?

Are we just gonna send in a Ds3032 and assign a "new agent"?

I would really appreciate it if somebody could help me out here.

And my second question:

How much time to the NVC shortcuts actually save?

Thanks...

We decided to do our NVC processing without our lawyer because it's much faster and we (I live in Canada) qualified for electronic processing.

I had to email NVC and tell them to remove our attorney on record then when that was done (prolly took about a week or so) I emailed a DS 3032 to NVC telling them my choice of agent was my hubby. And that's it.

You can use the email format of DS-3032 and tell your spouse to send it through their email address. You can look at it here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

The new agent assigned would be you the petitioner. Look at this guide as well: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut

There are more guides you can look through and familiarize yourself with the steps. If you do them right and get no RFE, usually people are done within a month or so. Than you just wait for the interview. Goodluck :star:

IMO - shortcuts shave off 9 months.

lets see - postal processing - YUM !!!!! (no telephone contact, no payment portal either )

1. 3 months after casefile arrival - NVC sends out DS-3032 and AOS fee bill, via postal mail

2. 3 months after receiving DS-3032, NVC sends out DS-230

3. 3 months after receiving DS-230, NVC sends approval notice.

You wanna stick with 'postal only', or no ? IMO, phone/portal/postal - better way to go.

It's always yer choice, you betcha !

Recently, In my brother-in-law's case. We requested to change embassy, withdraw lawyer from the case, upgrade petition as petitioner became citizen and send a new DS-3032 (as we don't want lawyer to be an agent of choice).

So we just sent an email mentioning all this using VJ GUIDELINEs for emailing DS-3032. Remember we didn't send an email for DS-3032 but instead we used the format of email DS-3032 and sent a request to remove lawyer and all other request.

They sent us an email within 5 days, that they have removed lawyer from the case and they will send us DS-3032 as soon as other requests are considered and be in effect.

So don't worry just email them but use DS-3032 format (petitioner's name, DOB, beneficiary's name, DOB, NVC case no., USCIS case no. - DO NOT forget to mention this). Subject line should be only your nvc case no. 'XXX0000000000'

All my above requests have been changed and it's done very effectively and easily. They also sent us new DS-3032 via email, which has beneficiary's name on it.
