My Husband and I are having a dinner party tonight at a house we're house sitting for.

The people who own it are really cool and allow us to have our guests over to make us feel as welcomed as possible.

I've already told my dinner guests that the house is haunted, in passing, but at that time I hadn't had a personal experience until last night.

I've heard some of the stories about the haunting at the house from the family and from my Mom who's house sat here before.

I house sat this place 2 summer ago and didn't have a personal experience then but I didn't stay upstairs where the haunting happens mostly.

You may read about my freaky paranomal experience here if you'd like to know more before you vote in the poll: My Freak Friday Haunting

----------------------------------------------------

The second poll question comes from my Husband this morning while we were making breakfast.

He asked if they were trying to sell the house should they tell interested buyers that the house is haunted?

I would go for sure....interested. I do think it should be disclosed to potential buyer (you wouldnt want to be part responsible for a nervous breakdown of anyone). For some this would not deter a buy and others well it could be hard to buy and have to turn around and sell because they are freaked out (financial burden to some). Have a great dinner party.

Wanted to share more of the story today as we had another experience this morning. We're staying here till Friday morning and then the family comes back so we'll be done house sitting but the experiences we're having together have been very interesting to say the least.

What happened this morning with the haunting.

I lived in a "haunted house." It was a large house originally built as a hotel on a bayou that is considered to have the most haunted houses in the South. The house was built by slave labor. I, personally, never experienced any hauntings, unless you consider an overwhelming creepy feeling and irrational fear of the stairs to the attic at night equivalent to haunting. It was a truly horrifying fear, and everyone who ever entered the area near the stairs said the same thing.

Everyone else in the house experienced hauntings. They heard children running around upstairs when no one was home. They heard people coming down the stairs when no one was home. They were awaken in the middle of the night by loud knocking or pressure on their legs when there were fires in the bathroom or in the attic. And so on.

The only other thing I experienced that might be considered a haunting happened very early one morning before dawn when I walked down the "owner stairs" to what was now the downstairs living room. Several of us rented rooms upstairs and the owner of the house had the downstairs. She had an African Grey, which is a bird that is said to be very intelligent. African Greys can speak in the voices of several different people. They will sound exactly like them. Several African Greys have been the subject of studies in which they demonstrate that they can do things like tell the difference between a blue ball and a red ball, etc. They seem to hold conversations.

This particular morning as I was coming through the swing door at the bottom of the stairs, I heard the bird say, "Shhhhh," and whisper, "She's coming." It was a very strange thing for the bird to say and quite a coincidence.

On the first day I moved in, I saw a couple of ghosts, but I've always just attributed that to my vivid imagination responding to having just learned the house was haunted. I don't really believe in ghosts. I haven't completely ruled out the possibility and I'm fascinated by it, but I'm not convinced.

Anyway, I'd go to dinner at a house that was said to be haunted. As for telling potential buyers about a house being haunted, I think you probably should, but I don't think you have to.

I would totally go to dinner in a house that's haunted. for novelty sake if anything ;)

as for house disclosure, I wouldn't necessarily say haunted to a potential buyer... but maybe just odd occurrences happen. let the buyer come to their own conclusions.

Back in college, one of the male students living in the dorms said he experienced a female ghost mounting him while he was lying in bed in the middle of the night. I unfortunately was not so lucky.
