Kristy,

I'm so sorry for this. I know it comes down as a hard blow. But you will do what you have to do. That's one thing this wretched journey teaches you. You can reach down to depths you didn't know you had and do what you need to do and make the best of it.

Seems like forever, I know, but it will pass and then the road block will be gone. Have you found out if you can go ahead and file while he's serving? This stupid process seems to eat a good year no matter how slice it anyway.

Focus on a positive if you can find one right now and know we're here to walk beside you. (F)

Is there anyway to get out of the medical service?

In Morocco, if a doctor diagnoses you with something and writes a note, you can either avoid service altogether or be discharged early. Pricey doctors usually find illnesses that the cheap doctors don't find.

That sucks big time. inshaAllah it will only be for two years. (((hug)))

I know that communicating with people in the army is tough. Can he keep a cellphone with him?

And, it might not help now, but when my husband and I were seperated for a long time, we looked at it in the grand scheme of things. We had 50, 60 years left to live together, what was another ,1 2 or 3 years?

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

I'd imagine if he had to serve for 2 years his visa would be ready, then expired before he finished the service. Also, correct me if i'm wrong but does Cairo require that you show documentation in Packet 3 that any military service has to be complete?

I know Algiers does -- have to show proof that you served in the military or show that you were exempted from service.
