Is it possible to get an I-551 stamp in a U.S. territory like Guam?

My wife will get her CR1 visa soon. The process at the Seoul Embassy in South Korea is much faster than we expected (about 4 months total). It's a problem for us because my contract does not expire until the end of the year. Could my wife fly to Guam and get an I-551 stamp, fly back to South Korea, and then later we both move to the USA mainland together?

2010-05-14: I-130 filed directly at embassy in Seoul, South Korea.

2010-06-03: Received packet 3.

2010-06-28: Notice of interview appointment on 2010-07-13.

2010-07-13: Interview - verbal approval.

2010-07-14: Received visa by courier.

Something we have learned from this process is that every embassy is different. The Seoul embassy moves extremely quickly. Also, our visa does not expire 6 months from the date of issuance. It expires 6 months from the chest x-ray.

Is it legal for us to enter Guam in July with no intention of staying, come back to South Korea, and then make a permanent move to the USA in December?

It certainly is not illegal.... google "maintaining US permanent residency" to see what is expected of immigrants in order to keep valid residency

YMMV
