Calm down Melissa.

Our file was touched a few times here and there, and then after waiting 5 months, there were a series of touches and then the website updated us as approved, and we got the letter in the mail. It could be nothing. Or it could be something, and you'll find out in a few days.

Thanks Gemmie. Thanks everyone! I am really trying to stay calm, or calmer. I just wish I knew what was going on!

Now I know why there were touches. :(

We got an RFE. I don't know what for or what I could have forgotten since I checked the package so many times. I know no one wants to hear how upset I am at myself for doing something wrong, but I feel so stupid. The worst part is I can't get a hold of my fiance to tell him. :crying:

That sucks, Melissa. Sorry to hear about your RFE. Just try to stay relaxed while you wait to receive it in the mail...all the worrying will not help you think straight. This isn't the end of the world, it only sets you back maybe 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks J (or A?). I am trying to stay calm. I just spoke to my mother and that helped a little. She said the same thing, that it's not the end of the world. I just feel so stupid! :(

I'm J. :)

Don't feel stupid...I'm sure you did everything as you were supposed to, you seem like a diligent person. If it makes you feel any better, A forgot to include our I-129F and the whole petition got sent back to him...20 days after we mailed it. All that time wasted for a little accident (he had no idea he forgot to include it). THAT was annoying!

In the long run, the delay caused by the RFE doesn't amount to much. And I saw in your blog that Julian is coming for a visit soon...keep your mind focused on that. :)

Feel free to PM me if you ever need to rant! A good old fashioned vent to someone going through the same thing always helps!

Thanks J! :star: That helps a lot to hear I'm not alone.

Yes, Julian is due to visit in under 2 weeks and hopefully by then we will know what the RFE was for and we will be able to fix it.

Does anyone know the amount of time allowed to respond to an RFE for a K-1 petition?

My case hasn't been updated since a couple of days after they cashed the check in April but I've seen several people here with NOA1 dates after mine either receive their NOA2 or an RFE. I have also seen that several have received their NOA2 without ever receiving an electronic notice or an update on the website.

Now, as I'm only heading into Day 70, I'm not overly concerned that I've seen nothing yet but with so many with NOA1 dates similar to mine getting notices of some kind, I am starting to think maybe it's possible that I received an RFE in the mail w/o knowing it because I've been out of town for 18 days... and will be for 9 more. I would absolutely kick myself if our petition were to be canceled because of a non-response while I'm out-of-town visiting my fiancee.

N-400

Feb. 12, 2016 - Sent N-400 to USCIS (3-year rule)

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

Mar. 14, 2016 - Biometrics

June 2, 2016 - Interview - Recommended for Approval

Does anyone know the amount of time allowed to respond to an RFE for a K-1 petition?

Hey Melissa,

After numerous touches, I just got a RFE for a stupid Mistake... I did not answer Item 2, in Section C of the I-129-F. It seemed the question was related to Military service when I first read it.. It was clearly a stupid mistake on my part.

I received the RFE Notice on 26 Jun, 2010, 7 days after the USCIS website was updated. I was given until Jul 21, 2010 to respond.. I have already sent my response back...

I was visiting my fiancee in Colombia when I learned about the RFE. Boy was I upset.. My fiancee tried to help me relax, but I was completely consummed with what the heck the problem could be.. I felt confident I had done everything correctly and plenty of evidence, so I just couldn't think of what the RFE was all about.. It turned out to out to be something minor..

Listen, stays encouraged.. I hope you can try to relax...

You will be ok. At least with an RFE you know that they are working on your case and as soon as you send back whatever they want then your case will resume and will probably be approved shortly.
