There are no new forms for K-1ers. K-1ers do not use the new DS-160. K-1ers do not use the DS-230. K-1ers still use the DS-156, the DS-156K, and the DS-157.

Good luck...and bring home the pink! :star:

Dear Honeybear, when I went to BDO to pay for my K1 visa fee, they asked for a DS-160. When I went for my interview on June 21, 2010 - I showed the same DS-160 form, together with my appointment confirmation at the gate.

When I was inside the Immigration Section, I was informed I need to submit 2 copies of DS-156, a copy of DS-156K, and 2 copies of DS-157. If you can't find it online via US embassy website, try to Google for it. You need a draft to work on prior to your interview. You can secure a copy of the above mentioned forms at the Embassy, but mind you, it would be stressful. Nakaka conscious pa!

It is interesting that BDO allowed your DS-160. Were you able to print the confirmation page for your DS-160? Did you use the confirmation page at BDO?

After another VJ member submitted the DS-160 online, the USEM emailed her, telling her that K-1ers do not use the new DS-160.

There are so many discrepancies regarding the DS-160 form. Since "honeybear" is a recent interviewee, I guess I will inform my fiancee, just to be safe and fill out the DS-160 (for the BDO payment process and interview as well).

Yes, the printed copy of the Confirmation Page was the one I showed to BDO Corporate Center branch located along Makati Avenue. After I clicked 'send by email' - I received an email confirmation the following day. That DS-160 was a real pain. Took me 4 hrs to accomplish (for myself and my daughter).

Yes, you might as well play it safe and fill out the DS-160. It will be interesting to see whether or not you receive an email confirmation from the USEM like yellow_flower received.

At least one VJ K-1er has already reported that, upon submitting their DS-160 online, the USEM emailed them back saying that the DS-160 is not needed. The email went on to say that K-1ers must use the DS-156, the DS-156K, and the DS-157.

There was another VJ K-1er trying to get a visa through one of the U.S. Embassies in South America. The bank would not accept payment unless the beneficiary had a DS-160. The Embassy in question has the same link on their web site - to the DOS web site - that the USEM has. Both Embassies link to the same web page where it says that K-1ers are exempt from using the DS-160. Hmmm...

I had a look at the DS-160...and you're right...it looks like a real pain!

It's interesting that you received a confirmation from the USEM while others have not. It's also interesting that BDO accepted payment using the DS-160. And it's interesting that, in the end, when you finally reached the immigrant section of the USEM for your interview, they required you to fill out the DS-156, the DS-156K, and the DS-157. Interesting...

With all of the confusion at the USEM and BDO over the DS-160, maybe it's best to fill out all of the forms just to be on the safe side.

That is what we did, had all of the DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 and DS-160.

May's interview was on 6/18 and the USEM wanted the DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157. She was informed they are not accepting DS-160s for K1 applicants.

The DS-160 form is problematic to fill out. The site times out faster than what they say. My suggestion would be to use the save and download option on each screen. That way if it times out on you, you can upload the form and continue as opposed to starting over.

Hi there! I paid for my visa fee on June 23 in BF Homes, Paranaque. The lady only asked me for the appointment confirmation, DS 157 and DS 156 which she glanced at. I wasn't asked for additional papers and she told me that the DS 160 wasn't necessary. Was the DS 160 form taken from you at the embassy or did you just show it at the gate?

Thanks!

Toni

thanks Tahoma!

i guess i'll be filling out the DS160 one of these days...

i already filled out the 3 forms (DS156, DS156K and DS157) and printed a lot of extra copies just in case.

i just need a photo first... coz it needs a 2x2 photo with white background to be uploaded...

some photo studios charge you if you ask for them to save it on a usb...

is it ok to paste it on the form? or is it MANDATORY to upload it in their system?

Aside from my appointment confirmation email (printed) and a 2x2 photo, what else should i bring at SLMCEC?

coz i can't find the link for the topic that tells us specifically on what to expect to bring.

coz the packet says one 2x2 photo when i remember some people telling me that they would ask for 2 photos at SLMCEC..

a clarification would be much appreciated!! thanks guys!!
