OMG, you said that what you witnessed, ie your interpretation of the movement of you fetus as a direct response to a given stimulus proved that the science behind the study on whether fetus less than 24 weeks feels pain is rubbish. That's emotive bullshit.

A reasonable grip on reality requires that our own personal experiences have highest priority when determining truth. It's unreasonable to believe a group of "scientists" when one's own experience contradicts them.

One's own experience has to pass a bit more of a rigorous test than simply stating 'my fetus moved at the same time as a stimulous was applied so that proves fetus can not only experience that stimulus, but their response to that stimulus must necessarily have attributes that we can only properly assign to the fully developed nervous system and have some relationship to feelings of pain' if one is going to override a properly conducted study by fully accredited scientists. I am not sure what proof you have that this study was conducted by "scientist", perhaps because the research was based in the UK? That would make your argument so much more persuasive ;)

Cleo, I've done psychology research for a few years and even though it's interesting stuff, scientists are just as much at each others throats as you two are regarding the topics. Awesome theories though. :)

I understand that in the interests of truth (whatever that ends up being) scientist continually redefine their understanding, it never stops. That said, simply stating from fresh air that a single, or even a couple of personal experiences with no control conditions can be used to contradict a properly conducted study is meaningless. If Lisa had produced a counter study, well, then we would have been sucking diesel!

Yes, that's exactly what I said and I meant it. You can believe I am deluded as much as you like and you can believe what you like about my motives. Whether or not that was 'dramatic' I have no idea, but what would be the point of 'fabricated outrage' in this instance?
