Indeed, how rude of me to wonder if posting ones own fetus pic to make a trivial point on a public message board was shortsighted and might focus the arguments in an unhealthy direction. I realize of course that that was entirely misplaced and indeed, I encourage everyone to use their personal fetus pics in abortion threads as often as possible, clearly that is what is needed to forward the debate because people who have abortions have absolutely no clue what a fetus looks like, nor that the abortion kills the fetus stone dead. If only they knew, no one would ever have one.

No, abortion is not murder. Murder is a legal definition, not a moral one. You believe all you like that abortion is immoral, have at it, but it is not illegal, so it can not be murder. Such statements that abortion is murder are far more tasteless than my comment that posting a personal fetal pic in an abortion thread demonstrates a lack of common sense. Such statements insult everyone who has had an abortion for any reason, such words are used to try to make those who need to have abortions for whatever reason feel guilty, as if feelings of guilt do not ever figure in the decision making process, as if those who have abortions deserve to be punished by society instead of given the support they need to get on with life. People who have abortions know full well that a life is taken by the abortion process, the fetus is killed, and a fetus is a potential baby, child and adult, with all the possibilities that that entails. People who have abortions KNOW THIS, and yet they have them anyway because sometimes an abortion is the right choice.

I know of one girl who did it after 20 weeks because she didn't want it. So even though there might be a large percentage that do it due to medical reasons, they are permitted due to personal choice as well.

One of my close friends in college had one at 30 weeks in New York. She did it because her father would have killed her if he found out she was pregnant. There are many days when I ask myself why didn't I try to persuade her not to do it and put it up for adoption. It has been almost twenty years since that happened and I still remember everything as clear as day now.

You must not be a parent because your thinking about parenthood is rather narrow. To keep you from making more dumb comments, I'll tell you I gave birth to 6 children, raised two sets of twins and a single, and buried one stillborn. No, I wouldn't abort my child, nor would the remaining five be orphans since they also had a father and a large, extended family.

I personally don't intend to offend someone who has had abortions, but at the same time I want to be able to say what I believe and that will inevitably offend some people. I read things on here that I totally disagree with or find offensive towards who I am all the time. We are definitely divided greatly on this controversial issue.

I am also not sure how morality can be completely unattached to law, when many laws are influenced by a nation's or political groups' overall morality. Is it possible for law to be completely unrelated to a given morality?
