Texas will let you accept your application with out a Social Security Number and assign ATT for NCLEX, they just will not issue a licenses until you provide a SS Number

Texas has lots of work for RN's, especiall if you have at least 1 years experience.

My wife works at 2 Hospitals as a RN. She is Full Time at one Hospital and does PRN at another

I am just wondering if anyone here has married a nurse from another country.

my wife is from the Philippines & she has never taken her review class so she could be an RN.

rite now she is just working as what we would call an LPN

her review class ( she found one close by in Manila) will start on Aug. 9Th & it will be 2.5 months long.

then there is about a 1 month wait till she can take the big test.

so I hope by christmas she can start to think about taking the NCLEX

so when she gets here she will not have any trouble/waiting finding a job she likes.

She may look into taking the NCLEX here in the US, not sure if it is possible though. Perhaps she should look into getting her nursing lic. in California and then maybe apply for another state from there. California is a little easier in thier lic. requirements than other states, from what I heard. I work with a few Filipina nurses, good luck. - Dave

hi. this might be of topic but i dunno which thread to post it. I'm having hard time answering the question in the DS form " DO YOU INTEND TO WORK IN THE US"? did you guys put a check in the yes box?

someone filed an immigrant petition on my behalf (US employer) but due to retrogression there aint any progress. My priority date is nov, 2008. I'm afraid this might be a grounds for our k1 visa approval. but there's no choice left for me but to write it down on the DS form.

Till now, we can't schedule for an interview, because my fiance who works in the air force will be deploying. dunno when and where yet.

that all sounds good to me. She will have already passed her board exam in the philippines though. She starts her review class on Aug 9TH. If she is going to have to wait in the Philippines for a year for her CR-1 i don't see any reason why she shouldn't put that time to good use.

a nurse from the philippines doesnt have to be licensed to be able to take the nclex.a newly grad could even take the nclex and work in the USA even without a license from the philippines.i hope this helps...

It would depend on the state.

1.) Some states require foreign-educated nurses to pass CGFNS, which requires a license from the country of education. In these states, one should pass CGFNS FIRST before s/he could apply for NCLEX.

2.) Many states that do not require CGFNS prefer to see a local license. Without a license, they usually require an explanation.

CGFNS test is only required by a few states in the USA, I think less than 5 out of 50.

There are many states in the USA where you don't need a local license from PI to sit for NCLEX.

Just put N/A for the answer.

Having a work visa on file will not effect your K1.

sorry for going off topic...but does anyone know about midwifery in the philippines? all i know is that my would-be girlfriend has spent many hours on duty to fulfill the requirements, of which assisting in different types of births was one of them. she's now reviewing for the board exam in november, but i don't know if having that license will allow her to practice if she comes here to southern california. my assumption is that she would need a local certification or license first, which will require additional training. if that's the case, would it be better to be trained in nursing (since it's more common), then work on her midwifery credentials?

thanks in advance for your input.

Is there a test a two year nurse can take so they can be a lvn or lpn in the US? I live in California.

If she goes to school in USA, He/She only needs a 2 year degree (Associates Degree) to sit for NCLEX-RN

I think LVN/LPN is 1 year of school to sit for NCLEX

As Tallcoolone said a person in the US can get a RN degree with a 2 year diploma or Associates degree.

Now if your question is can a nurse from the Philippines with a 2 year degree which I am assuming is like a LPN/LVN can work in California I would search around in this website:

http://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/licensing/forms.shtml

My gut reaction is that the LPN/LVN schools in the Philippines have a greater credibility problem than the RN programs and might pose problems, The link I provided does show the educational requirements.
