I have been working in the US with an H1-B for a few years now and my existing company is sponsoring that visa. This February my husband and I tied the knot. I turned in my application last week to the government for AOS and I-485 from my husband (June 15) and received 3 NOAs from them yesterday (June 23). One of them said they will send me a biometrics appointment in the mail.

So...two questions:

1. When will I receive the biometrics appointment and how flexible are those appointment times? This is the BUSIEST job season!

2. What I REALLY want to know is- when can i change my job while this whole process is going on?! Or better yet, at what point of all these notifications can I send in the application to change employers and advance parole for travel outside the country? I live in California.

Can anyone help me?

I hope you sent in the I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) and I-131 (Advance Parole document for travel) with your

I-130 and I-485 application. If you did not, you can still do it but it will cost you extra $$. Make sure you attach the NOAs of your

I-130 and I-485 with the application.

You can always try an early walkin appointment for biometrics. We went a month before our scheduled appointment and it only took 10 mins. Again this depends on how busy your local office is. Search this forum for information on your office.

You can send in these as soon as you have receipt number for your I-485. Make sure to include include the receipt number of your I-485 so all your applications are together with USCIS. If you have your Alien number, that's even better.

You can change employers as soon as you receive your EAD card (after I-765 application gets approved)
