Hi, everything is going smooth so far. Does anyone know how long I should expect it to take from the time the NVC sends documents to the U.S. Embassy in Manila, until they contact my fiance? Then now in June 2010, how long is it taking to get an interview in Manila. Flights are difficult to get from Manila-U.S. in the month of August. I'm trying to figure out my schedule if everything goes well. Thank you.

Actually I have always found August to be a good time to fly from or to Manila. I just found all kinds of flights and some good deals, on top of that.

It could be a couple of weeks (or so) from the time the NVC sends your packet to the U.S. Embassy in Manila until the time the Embassy contacts your fiancé. You can schedule the interview quicker by calling the Embassy Call Center and, using your NVC case number, set an interview appointment before the Embassy contacts your fiancé.

A week or ten days after your packet leaves the NVC, start calling the Call Center every day until they tell you that the Embassy has received your packet and entered it into their system. When your packet is finally in their system, the Call Center will allow you to make an interview appointment.

Note #1: don't listen to the script-readers at the Call Center when they routinely tell you to call back in two weeks. Call back the very next day.

Note #2: if the Call Center asks you if your fiancé has already been notified by the Embassy, tell them "yes."

PS...flights are easy to get in August.

Good luck...and bring home the pink!!! :star:

I wss there last July, I extended my stay thinking it would be easy to get a flight back to New York. I always fly Cathay Pacific. They are the best and fastest way to get back home. Flights were fully booked until the first week of September (I guess kids or families getting back, so kids can to back to school). I was on the priority wait list for two weeks, kept waiting and waiting... Finally I had to leave before I'd lose my job. I was able to go stand by all the way back one flight at a time. Beleive me it's not so easy on any airine once it gets to the middle of August.

There are many other airlines you could have taken.
