My husband is now calling them and asking if ew have an updated date... that's a "touch" right? and if not, well, I think we are canvcelling and restarting, this is plainly a dead loss. We kept a copy of the entire application in case they pulled this. I just weep that we have wasted a month.

OK having read that... I'm thinking, stuff this visa. You got NOA1 after SEVERAL MONTHS?

Perhaps I should go back to the originsal plan and apply for UK one... even though we both hate it in the UK.

Or call an immigration lawyer. Anyone know a good one in FL?

other people have applied for visas, for both countries at the same time. I was within 50 days of leaving the US, when ours came through. had already signed power of attorney, allowing my adult son to liquidate the property.

It seems like illegal immigration, is all that is newsworthy. I was married for sixteen months before we could live together. This is total bullshit, however, all you ever hear is ILLEGAL THIS, AND THAT.

DO YOU WONDER WHY, WITH A SYSTEM LIKE THIS??? :(

I have to admit, with the amnesties... it is an option that has not failed to cross my mind as a last resort.

I have to wonder what you are thinking an Ombudsman can do ? you are dealing with the USA not your home country... PLEASE fill in your timeline ... :hehe:

Dealing with the US....Home country? do you not know who the Ombudsman is?

It may not be the same for IR1/CR1 but using the USCIS website is really a waste of time anyway. They don't update it immediately and we received the paperwork before the status changed on-line. If they've told you that it's in the system and cashed your cheque that's a pretty good indication that you are in the system. As another poster has mentioned if they had problems with their computer system then they probably have a backlog of cases to add / update - VJers are probably a small percentage of those who get processed every day.

It would be silly for you to withdraw the application and pay again (you've mentioned that money is an issue in other posts), adding more months to your wait, when they already have your file.

Everyone has to wait, no matter what their visa is - many of us wait to see updates but don't get a single touch recorded before approval - so you aren't the only one.
