Hello VJ friends. I have a question regarding the Affidavit of Support of a co-sponsor. My husband's cousin is helping us by filling in a co-sponsor Affidavit of support. The accountant who helped my hasband to fill his affidavit of support, told that his cousin's wife signature will also be needed. So, I am confised since I haven't read anything about it in the instructions. Why would his wife's signature be needed if the joint sponsor is just my husband's cousin? I would really appreciate your help in clearing my confusion

Only the sponsor's signature is needed but only the actual sponsor's income is used. Perhaps the accountant was thinking of using joint income instead of individual income.

Thank you for your reply, pushbrk. The thing is that my husband does not have a job now, so a joint sponsor is needed. As we understood, my husband still needs to fill in an I-864, and a joint sponsor needs to fill in another I-864, since the joint sponsor is his cousin and is not in the same houshold. So, in this case, what does his wife need to sign than?

If you are using the I-864, this is a CR1 case, not a K3. I already told you, his wife doesn't sign and her income is not used. Yes, you'll be submitting an I-864 from your husband and another from his cousin. His cousins should state only his personal income, not the joint income. This then is documented with at least one complete tax return including any W2 forms, so his personal income can be verified. I would also include at least a couple recent pay stubs.
