Hi all,

I just received my NOA2 in the mail, dated June 11, 2010 (which was a Friday), now more than a week later NVC still hasn't assigned a case record #, according to their automated phone system. Should I be worried that something has happened to my paperwork? It seems many people get assigned a case record # 2 or 3 days after there NOA2 dates. Thanks.

Thanks Yakad.

Maybe you can help me with another question? My fiancee and I want to start gathering the documents for the K-Visa appointment package (i.e. packet 3)? Can we do this without the NVC case record #, for instance the Doctor examination and lab work and DAS documents? And if we can, how difficult is it to schedule the Doctor appointment and do you need to schedule the lab work? Thanks again for any help you can offer.

it took about 9 days before we had our case number from NVC. You can start gathering documents like proof of relationship and things like that for the interview. But You will have to have an appointment letter from the embassy before you will be able to get the medical done.

you can fill out the forms (ds-2100 and ds-230 part I) but you can't send it because in the ds-2100 form is required the new case number. Request an appointment with the doctor is easy you can call them once you have your interview date. For lab work you don't need an appointment (tests are taken only in the morning 6-10 am) . For other documents (BC, DAS, etc) is a good time to start gathering

K-1's do not make it to the NVC automated system due to the short period of time on station there....

YMMV

that's right - NVC AVR never holds K-1 info -

you have to get a Human.

But - that Human will have it. When you get the Human, give USCIS receipt #, ask for Embassy Case # , also ask when the casefile left NVC.

At some point, call DoS Hotline( # in my profile), get a Human, and inquire for case status.

USUALLY, any packet 3 files can be downloaded from the Embassy's website, as well.

Humans are important, now - get used to talking with them, ya ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
