Hi,

I have a few last odds and ends questions before sending our application in tomorrow.

1. For the cover letter, the example template shows

RE: I-751 JOINT PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF STATUS ON:

(K-1 VISA) Name of Immigrant K-1 spouse, A#xxx-yyy-zzz

(K-2 VISA) Name of K-2 child, A#xxx-yyy-zzz

My husband is not here on a K-1 Visa so I am assuming that we should just put his name and is the A# for the number on his

residency card? Should we also put his social security number there or are they the same number?

2. We are sending two affadavit letters, mainly because one explains our family living situation. For the Re: they

are putting my husband's name, DOB, and "letter of support". I want to make sure it doesn't need more information than that.

3. And for the last question. What is the process for after we submit the I-751. Can we look up online to see what his status is,

is there an extension in the meantime? I know they will send him biometrics information and we may have an interview but didn't know the in between stuff.

Thanks,

Gretchen

Hi Gretchen,

1. you are correct - that is only a suggestion for stating the visa type. I didn't include my visa since the A# is already there (which is more important to them than a visa type). You can ignore it, or type in CR-1 (which is his GC status).

I wouldn't put the SS# on the document since it is already on the form - and his A# is more improtant.

2. Make sure his A# is on the affidavits as well, in case they get separated from the rest of the package, then they will know where they belong.

3. Once the package is received and verified for completeness by USICS, they will mail you a NOA letter that shows they received the I-751 petition and his GC is extended for 1 more year which allows him to travel and remain or get employed.

After that, you will receive a biometrics appointment letter which the receipt number on it can be used to check the status online. The receipt number on it is different than the NOA receipt number and if you try to check the status online with the NOA receipt number it will not work (just to give you the heads up).

Good luck!!!

This probably sounds like a silly question but is the A# what is on his green card?

I know he carries it in his wallet and of course he took that to work today so I can't

see what it looks like right now.

Yes - that is correct. The A# is on each document he receives from USCIS (so if you have previous mail you can find it on there too). So if you want to get the A# before he returns from work, then there is a way ;)
