On the way to work this morning, the headline "TEED OFF"

shouted from a newsstand tabloid. It seems that some

have criticized Obama for playing golf while the Gulf oil

crisis is still flowing...

What's he supposed to be doing about it? He's a leader. His job is to delegate to the most capable people to do the job.

Is he supposed to suck it up with a straw?

Swim down there and stick a finger in the pipe to stop it up?

I mean, really? Also, I don't think anyone (even "the most powerful man in the world") can go 24/7. Why can't he take a break too?

Well if the administration is going to take issue with the BP Chief exec going sailing, they should surely be similarly concerned about the President's image.

It's all BS of course - just a publicity stunt.

As far as PR goes, I think GWB came off worse when he did a press conference about the war on terror in the middle of a golf game. It came across as being a bit crass.

No, he should not "suck it up with a straw." What an infantile thing for a president to say. And how very thin-skinned, defensive, and petulant he sounds. Was Bush supposed to suck the waters in NOLA up with a straw?

Perhaps he shouldn't have gotten in the way of those wanting to react immediately. This is no small thing. This is disasterous. There is not a word that can capture the horror of this. And much of it could have been stopped if we hadn't been forced to wait to respond, and when we were given permission to respond, if we hadn't been ordered to reduce the response to less than half of what was proposed.

It's not that Obama has been playing golf. Play golf. Just let us stop the oil from killing us. Stop pointing fingers. At this point, just get out of the f*cking way. Go back to the greens and let those being affected who know the consequences start implementing the plans that they've been trying to implement from day two.

It would be nice if we could coordinate responses, but at this point, it would just be nice to be allowed to do something.

Honestly, it's all politics and the same way GW Bush was attacked for playing golf during the war...

BUT anyone who understands anything about golf, would know that you almost want your leader to be playing golf.. It's relaxing, a great way to think and clear your head...

I agree. Golf is often written off as a business expense by company execs who may actually do real business

with clients in a relaxed setting. By the same token it's generally expected that the president will golf with

cabinet members, senators, advisors, etc. to allow them to present a case to him or to convince them of

a case that he wants to present.
