Hello!

I've been reading peoples timelines and it seems that there are quite a few of you out there that has done a walk in.

If my Biometrics appointment is for the 30th of June, Is it okay for me to do a walk in before that? do i need to call my USCIS office in my area to let them know ahead of time that i'm coming in? I'm just very anxious. Thank you in advance.

I just walked in and explained why it was going to be difficult to make the appointment they had set for me. I hear some places are being difficult, though. Mine was a Houston office.

We walked in on Thursday and they asked why we did not wait until our scheduled appointment. I told her that I was going to be out of town on that day. She went in the back and came back 5 minutes later and scolded us telling us that they would make an exception just this once but never again. She went on to say that I was to tell anyone thinking about coming early not to. My advice the worst that can happen is they can tell you to come back on your scheduled appointment.

Personally I called first because it was a 3 hour drive and I was told that they prefer NOT to but they did admit that if I was to come they would process me, but they MIGHT make me wait until the end of the day if they were busy when I arrived. Now I can't tell you how I got the number (dumb luck probably) but when I got there they DID initially turn me away and say that I should reschedule but then the security guy asked me how far I travelled and I said 3 hours. He went and asked someone if it was okay because we came so far and she said "did you call yesterday?". I answered in the affirmative she allowed me to proceed. There was no-one waiting though so they shouldn't have had an issue with it.

Long story short - can't hurt to try.. unless you're like me and live AGES away from the office.

Yeah, it is often hard to find the phone number for the local USCIS office. I couldn't for mine.

But a friend of mine had gone through the same office and warned me that they get angry at people who come in early even on the day of their appt. This is the office in Lawrence MA. There are plenty of others on here that had no problems at all though.

So like what everyone stated, it can't hurt to try ;)
