I have a question please. When i go for my interview in Montreal, will i need my divorce decree or is divorce certifiacte sufficient? I have 3 kids; 24,18 and 14. None are coming with me and didn't include on the i129f.

My 18 yr old is in college and my 14 yr old lives with his dad

Hi,

The divorce certificate should be fine. That information can be found here.

"Canadian divorce records are maintained by provincial and territorial courts. Primary evidence of divorce is the original or court-certified copy of the final divorce decree from the court where the divorce took place. Some provinces also issue a "Certificate of Divorce" similar to a large or full-size marriage certificate (a computer-printed extract of information on currency style stock paper, 21.6 x 17.8cm or 7 x 8.25 in., with an intaglio border). The Certificate of Divorce is also acceptable evidence of divorce, though it has no information about child custody".

When I showed my divorce decree to the Vancouver Counselate when I did the register of birth abroad, they were pleased to see the embossed seal, mentioning that they would not have been able to accept it without it. Just thought I'd let you know.
