I just recieved a letter saying that processing on my case is beginning. This is really great news but I havn't received an approval yet & they've already sent me package 3. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this the new thing now? I'm confused

02-04-2006 sent the last bit of information to attorney for I129f

02-11-2006 attorney sent I129f to TSC (package was then forwarded to CSC at some point)

02-16-2006 receipt date according to I797

02-21-2006 receipt date according to USCIS website

02-22-2006 notice date

05-31-2006 travelled to the US for 90 days

05-31-2006 touched

06-20-2006 called USCIS to update Charlie's (petitioner) address

06-20-2006 touched

06-21-2006 touched

08-09-2006 recieved packet 3. Do not know when we were approved as we were not told.

08-14-2006 touched

10-13-2006 sent packet 3 to embassy. Requested interview for February (at the earliest) as I need to finish

uni before I leave the UK

02-12-2007 interview date. But have to change the interview date again due to unforseen circumstances not

allowing me to travel to the States until September 2007. Boo hoo

Who did the letter come from?

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

As far as I know, packet 3 is sent out after NOA2. This is indeed weird.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Was the letter from CSC and possibly an acknowledgement of the address change? Maybe if you post it here someone can figure it out.

Who sent you packet 3? Have you tried calling the consulate and asking them?

Something does indeed sound strange and you should have been approved by now anyway!

We already received a letter from them acknowledging the address change, this is something different. The problem is I'm in the US visiting my fiance & won't get home till the end of August. But my Mum, who read the letter to me, told me it said it was from the USCIS & they didn't say anything about an approval, just that processing is now commencing. All the stuff that's in package 3 is what they've asked me to start gathering now. Apparently there's loads & loads of forms to fill out & they told me to book my medical. They said to fill in the forms & send them back ASAP. Does this sound like packet 3? I'm sure it is.

Its so weird, I don't know whether to be happy or not. We contacted my Fiance's senator a couple of weeks ago to see what's taking so long & he sent us a letter saying he's contacted CSC so I'm assuming he's helped the process along.

The USCIS approves a petition which enable the applicant/beneficiary to apply for a visa. USCIS has nothing to do with the visa interview at consulates or the sending out of any packets. This is the responsibility of the DOS of which the embassy/consulates come under.

um, that your petition was approved sent to the NVC and onto your Consulate and has been entered in their queue?

Time to get your checklist in and get in line for an interview, by the sounds of it.

Looks like CSC forgot to send your approval. I would contact them since I believe you need the physical NOA2 down the road for AOS.

That is definitly packet 3 alright. Sounds like you got approved and didnt know it. With your NOA1 date I would say it long over due

You wouldnt be the first person who got NOA2 and never saw it on the website and didnt receive an email.

By the way, fire your lawyer if he isnt keeping up with it and letting you know what is going on.
