Making a website

So I want to start building our webpage for our future animal sanctuary. I know its going to take me a long time to do, as Im gonig to learning as I go along, and I want alot of stuff on it. I understand about getting a domain name, and the one I want is available. However, does anyone know if its possible to develop the site before its actually hosted? I would rather have it up and finished before people are able to view it.

Yes, it is possible. Actually, that's how it is usually done

It is particularily easy if your site does not use any server-side scripts.

I use Tripod which I find really good.. and free. It helps if you know some HTML but there are alot of step by step guides.

yes most definitely you can build it first before you actually post it.

I got this program Dreamweaver, there are others but I took a Multimedia class where I learned how to use this one.

Sites are first made and then posted...If you use simple HTML codes and just do it in Wordpad you also do it first and then just preview the site in Internet Explorer/etc.

I'm not an expert but there are many ways in which you can develop a site. Good Luck!
