I just discovered this sight and it has already been extremely helpful understanding the Visa process! Here is my question...I am a US citizen and recently married my husband while I was visiting him in Cyprus. We got married in a Mosque in Lemosos, Cyprus. Because we got married in Cyprus does my husband have to do the interview, etc at the Consulant in Cyprus? He is Jordanian and we would like to submit paperwork through the Consulant in Jordan as he and I will be meeting there to meet his family and travel, etc...any information would be very much appreciated!

I am no expert but he should be able to choose Amman Embassy for his interview.

02-24-2010 - I-130 Sent: February 24th, 2010

06-17-2010 - NOA2

Your I-130 was APPROVED in 107 days from your NOA1 date.

06-24-2010 - NVC Case Number Assigned

08-24-2010 - Sign in Fail - Case COMPLETE in 60 days

10-27-2010 - INTERVIEW Riyadh

11-27-2010 - VISA issued

I beleive he can ask for the packet to be transferred to Amman. Only the K3 is written in stone that it has to be in the country of marriage. Email Amman and ask, they are uber helpful and answer quickly, well they used to be anyway :)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

pretty sure you do the interview at the country/area of your residence.

having a marraige in another country just means more paperwork i think.

Are you talking about DCF?

You have to live in Jordan at least 6 months (once I even read maybe a year) to file thru the embassy. Otherwise you go thru USCIS to file CR1.

And be prepared to wait as Jordan is backed up and busy. We have been waiting since May 11 for an interview date!

And be prepared to wait as Jordan is backed up and busy. We have been waiting since May 11 for an interview date!

DCF would be if I were living abroad correct? I am living in the US and will file the petition here at USCIS...we are just wanting to make sure that we can do our interview in his country of Jordan. He currently lives and works in Cyprus.
