Boehner's office said that it extrapolated its per-household figure from a two-year-old study of a cap-and-trade bill co-sponsored by then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). That study, by John M. Reilly, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor, said that a cap-and-trade bill could generate $366 billion a year in revenue and that the GOP leader's office said it simply divided that by the number of households expected in 2015.

Where does the 366 billion come from ?It will be as a cost of doing business on a balance sheet.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

If you wait until everyone else starts doing it, well, nothing will ever get done. China is already leading the US when it comes to alternative energy.

There's no reason to believe China will change its energy sources do to international pressure as they haven't reacted postively to outside pressure in the past. It's just wishful thinking.

Most of the alternative energy is hydro which isn't an answer for the U.S. as we have destroyed dams in this country and it's unpopular to build new ones for environmental reasons and because we've already dammed many of our rivers years ago.

"The major renewable energy source in China is hydropower. Total hydro-electric output in China in 2009 was 615.64 billion kWh, consititing 16.6% of all electricity generated in China. China is already the country with the most hydro-electric capacity in the world, and the Three Gorges Dam is projected to be the largest hydro-electric power station in the world with a total capacity of 22.5 GW."

That project could have never been built (currently) in the US, for the half a billion people that were displaced, the cultural and historical sites that were destroyed, and the thousands of species whose habitats were destroyed, not to mention all the freshwater species that will be slaughtered by all the turbines that will used to generate electricity.
