I have kind of a random question about the medical. What diseases do they check for at the medical? I know they do blood tests, but are those only for AIDS or do they test for other things? Do they make you do a urine test too? I know I saw someone had to do one because he said he had had a lot to drink the night before -- how much can you drink the night before the medical if you don't want to get asked about that?

I had to do a blood test for HIV. A sputum test for TB. And a chest x-ray.

I also had a full physical and 3 vaccinations.

Read some of the medical reviews on here, they're quite helpful.

They check your eyes, blood pressure, heart, stomach, breasts/genitals (very quickly, nothing to worry about). The blood test is for HIV and perhaps Hepatitis B as well? Not sure.

No urine tests for me, but I wouldn't have anything to drink the night before just in case.

Okay, thanks guys! I'll make sure I tell him not to drink the night before, although I don't know if he'll listen to me!

Oh, and he wants to know if he has to have the vaccinations now or can he do them later? Can he do a titer test (I have no clue what that is but he asked me just now)?

He can have the vaccinations at his GP if they'll do it, he can have them done at the medical, or he could even have them done after arriving in the USA (although I bet most of us would not advise it ... seems to cause problems with AOS if you have it done in the USA). A titer test would work as well.
