Hey,

does anybody know who schedules the date for the medical exam for the k 1 visa? is it set by the consulate or can i arrange the appointment myself?

You'll have to say where you are. It varies.

oh ok. it's going to be in Germany but since i work abroad i probably will need some time in order to arrange a flight and travel back to Germany for the medical. thats why i am interested if i can arrange the appointment myself (after booking a flight etc.)

You can either schedule the exam yourself (all the other cities but Frankfurt) or if you want to go to the doc in Frankfurt, you just go there without an appointment. Just show up at the doctors office in Frankfurt between 7.30 and 9.30 in the morning, that's all.

Since you are aborad, you'll probably want to do the medical around the same time as the interview in order to avoid having to fly to Germany twice. That's no problem, you can either do the medical the day before the interview to avoid the hassle of having to do both on the same day, or you can go to the medical exam early in the morning and then go to the interview at the consulate afterwards.

By the way, are you by any chance in Sri Lanka at the moment...?

If yes, then I think I wrote to you today in another forum as well today :D
