Adoption Certificate

Hi, my UK fiance is adopted. He only has his adoption certificate and no long form birth certificate. The instructions I've read in the guides here appear to say an adoption certificate is a 2nd form of ID. Has anyone here experienced using their adoption certificate INSTEAD OF a long form birth certificate?

Hi, thank you, yes I did read that but it was still slightly unclear to me.
