At least this guy is standing up for what is right. Unfortunately I have heard people complain because they claim the crackdown is worsening the violence. Deerrr change does not come easy. They are fighting a relentless scumbag enemy that is fighting for their own dominance with everything they have.

The US should be assisting these guys eradicate these drug cartels. Why is it we can squeeze terrorists but do nothing against drug cartels? Cartels who have inflicted 1,000 damage on America, just not one one go. Find where they operate, which is not that hard since you cannot exactly hide drug plantations Then send the UAV and with the permission of the Mexican government, fire away.

The dead bodies just keep piling in Mexico.

Soldiers stormed a house in the state of Guerrero where alleged gang members holed up. A shootout ensued, leaving 15 gunmen dead.

None of the troops were hurt in the 40-minute shootout, the government said.

As the nation pushes ahead with its bloody drug cartel crackdown, the president pleaded with his country to support the war, saying Mexico's future is at stake.

“This is a battle that is worth fighting,” Calderon said. "It's a battle that, with all Mexicans united, we will win."

More than 40 people have been killed this week alone, including 12 federal police officers who were ambushed Monday.

The drug war since the end of 2006 has claimed 23,000 lives as soldiers and police aggressively fight cartels. Mexican officials peg most of the deaths to turf wars between gangs, but law enforcement has recently become a popular target.

Last week gunmen killed 16 people in Ciudad Madero, and 19 men were shot dead at a drug rehab center in Chihuahua.

"My government can't and won't let its guard down," Calderon said.

The Mexican government is very nationalistic and unlikely to openly allow UAVs to buzz around Mexico and American troops on their soil in large numbers is out of the question for a nation has seen its share of American intervention in the past.

At the very least that idiot Obama should have armed US troops at the border to deprive the cartels of their revenue. Unfortunately you have to have gonads to do something like that. Hurry up 2012.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

The drug war since the end of 2006 has claimed 23,000 lives as soldiers and police aggressively fight cartels. Mexican officials peg most of the deaths to turf wars between gangs, but law enforcement has recently become a popular target.

US military deaths since the Iraq War began 7 years and 3 months ago: Death Toll as of June 15, 2010 = 4,406 US Servicemen

Lives claimed from the Mexican Drug War since 'the end' of 2006: over 23,000 lives in 3 and a half years

By the numbers (my calculations which are approximate):

US military deaths from Iraq War per year (4,406 / 7.25 years) = 608 deaths per year (equivalent to 51 deaths per month or 1.67 deaths per day)

Deaths from Mexican Drug War per year (23,000 / 3.5 years) = 6,571 deaths per year (equivalent to 548 deaths per month or 18 per day)

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Which begs the question, what the heck are we doing in Iraq and not in Mexico?
