I'd go back... I'm already trying to convince my SO that we should go to NZ eventually anyway.

Did NZ - wanted to live there when I was 26. I got the NZ paper delivered and won a bottle of champagne in a competition. They didn't send it so I changed my mind.

I went there a few years ago and thought I would like south island better - I didn't as south west is too rainy and the rest is like Iowa. Auckland is great. Napier - nice. My watch is at the bottom of the sea at rangitoto island. Might come back for it some day but jeez it's a long way to anywhere.

This emigrating stuff is a mental journey more than a visa journey even. It goes in waves and a lot of people go back just to find they can't settle now. The locals don't know what it's like to live a long time overseas and think it's all great. That works in both countries so some people become un-anchored permanently.

I don't think I am at that stage yet but it's an evolving thing and doesn't stop changing after 6 months or a year or even 3. That being the case, I reckon it's essential to do USC so that minds can be changed and changed back.

Scuse the misspelling back there, I was well and truly hammered when I typed that.

I knew what you meant cos I am psychedelic

Well thank god somebody did because I have no recollection of what I meant. Dive bars do that to you.

You meant 'batty crease' not 'posterior'.

Dive bars are great up to the point where someone whacks a bottle over your bonce and you get red wine down your disco shirt and someone nicks your handbag/cell phone/wallet and somebody else says "are you looking at my girlfriend/boyfriend/indeterminate"

I am semi retired from such places and as I always carry at least 2 guns strapped to my various appendages, I am not allowed in anyway.

No, we only had to contend with massive BO wafting off rabid, drunk Lakers fans. Otherwise it was an enjoyable experience. The ladies' room was refreshingly clean because ladies are a rare sight in there besides the perky Korean barmaid. I walked by the place when I was on my way there because I saw tramps hanging outside and I assumed it was a soup kitchen. It was in a way -- we kept getting free beer.

Wish I could just whack some pulling slap on and get beer bought.

My pal in Atlanta (Brit, been here 15 years but still GC) has just married a Korean American girl who weighs 105 lbs - he reckons they are cheaper to feed I think - he will find out eh ? Most skinny birds I know have got hollow legs when they really go nosebagging

It was kind of surreal, this place. It was simultaneously the least and most LA place I have been in my two years here. At one point, our free pitcher of beer was so warm and flat one of our party said it was like drinking ale. But it was free and full of alcohol (owwww, I moved my head) so that was all right.

I love his family and this is where we will have built our lives together. So I would stay.

Besides I've been going to school here for 10 years and all my friends are here. Here is already home to me :)

British beer is live and kept at 52 degrees F. The peak of perfection is Timothy Taylor's Landlord or Best Bitter. It doesn't travel more than a few miles or afew days, so impossible to buy a draught bitter beer in the US because of the distances.

Do you relate to my advice to the 'go backers' that things change and a lot of people end up going back and forth ? If this is as common as I suspect, making sure the GC or USC is intact is essential.

Things change and we change our minds and once are minds are open, they can never be closed again

I realise you may want to postpone your answer for an hour or two until you have had a double fried egg sandwich and 3 aspirin which does wonders

That's a nice situation. You have a new family which is your family.

What would you do if he went insane and ran away with another woman. I know it's not going to happen - but just imagine like make believe ... what then ?

Excellent reply !

You could sit in their garden hedge and video their arguments - then go home and play them on the telly while you chuckled

Hey I know gals who have done something close to that

When my boy was 13 and the girl 10, my wife went off with an 18 year old boy who was unemployed, lived with his mom and dad and rode a pedal cycle with no lights.

Nowadays he works in a recycling depot in the skips sorting garbage out. He comes home covered in it and sits on the settee drinking cheap beer all night and chain smoking

Latest reported conversation from my spies >>

She: "You stink, your are fat and you are a drunk and I hate you and I wish I had never met you"

Him: "shut up I can't hear the telly"

Life is sweet !
