I speculate who the people are who find it easy to say they would stay if they were on their own.

Perhaps they were here to attend university and made friends before they married. Perhaps their kids are now integrated here. I am sure even some of these would wobble if their partners left them or left life, but the main wobblers must be people with no extended network of friends here and no kids here.

Are there any of those who would stay ?

I'd love to see that deal get approved by the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers. Ain't gonna happen. This isn't a Cadbury situation here; more likely we'd see the (almost completely far-fetched) Northern Rock scenario playing out, or being sold to another British oil company like Cairn.

Another 6% drop today. It's not looking good for BP, I'm telling ya.

As for the Northern Rock scenario, not gonna happen. The British (as well as American) public has lost its appetite for bailouts.

It's a combination of 2 factors

1 quarter end and no fund manger wants the shares on their list

2 Cramer dissed them yesterday and said they were a $4 stock like citigroup. He wanted to buy a property in pensacola so it's sour grapes

They will be back - by October the leak will have been fixed for 2 months, 40 new pelicans installed and they will be romping back

He does throw a few goodies in like never trade at market and always put a limit buy/sell, but he is wild. A lot of people will get burned when Apple comes off as he is pushing it so hard.

I reckon the money he made on his hedge fund was the usual trick - all the losses to the clients while he gets a big chunk of the profits
