you should be able to do that also from the archive section of YM. but i think it only shows when the call was made not how long the call lasted. I can double check and let you know. I am also doing the same thing.

I couldn't find any way to show call length on YM or on MSN messenger. Fortunately, we talk every day and I saved them all and printed the opening page of each one. (of course, we had a bad K1 experience last year, so we are taking much more proof than we really need, just to be safe!)

I have chat logs from almost 2 years along with phone bills, cards, letters, receipts from gifts, logs of about 1500 texts a month (since he got a job with free texting LOL), 3000 pictures from 3 trips there and anything else I can find!

Yahoo messenger has a call history under "Contacts" with dates and duration. This is seperate from 'chat logs'.

MSN has start time in the regular chat log, but no duration. This is same as 'chat logs'.

In addition to taking our yahoo call history as evidence, I take a screenshot everyday of the video call window in yahoo, date it, and save it.

I print 2 per week of these at walgreens as a photo and use this as evidence.

Quick question....is it okay to just save the YM conversations as text document? If i go into yahoo archive, then i choose file/edit/save as....the conv will be saved as a text doc showing time stamps and details. Is this acceptable for evidence, or will i be better just taking screen shots and printing them out?

Raluca, I think I have a much better option for you! It's called Dapyx Messenger Archive. Just google it. You'll be able to copy/paste the conversations in a Word document, including emoticons! Because copying directly from Yahoo Mess didn't work. I mean, it worked, but without the emoticons. Which I wasn't ok with. That's what we're doing and it's actually cool, it looks better using Dapyx. We're also adding some prtscreens. As we use YM and Skype daily, there's so much to print. So I figured it should be ok to just make some printscreens of the Yahoo Messenger Archive, with the list of conversations, dated. The result is: printscreens with: July 3, 2010 - June 12, 2010; June 11, 2010 - May 14, 2010 and so on. We are making printscreens in the middle of the conversations as well. We're using Skype, it's much more reliable when it comes to video calls.

Current number of conversations on YM: 760. We're talking daily, so we decided a number of 2 printed conversations/month would be enough. Together with 2 printscreens/month in the middle of the conversation. 2 printscreens/month for skype during converations, where you can see the date and how long did the call last, 2 printscreens/month for skype during video calls. And all the skype history copied in a Word doc.

I hope my post will help you. Kisses!

P.S.: Using Skype it's cool. We're "sleeping together", we just go to bed and leave the skype call on. It will be obvious at the interview because it shows: the date, "Call from Sweetie(and his id on the top of the window)", when was the call initiated and the call duration.
