My fiance was wondering if he could do a support thing of his own beings that he will working in Qatar and just flying here to see me for little bit and then flying home. I told him I didnt think that it worked that way and that I would still have to provide a sponsorship for him when he is here. He said but if I have my own money why would it matter. We would be married. Im so lost and confused and I haven't even started the process yet. He at one point told me to forget it and that I could just move to where ever he is working and live with him there. But with my lil ones i cant really just up root them and move 4 kids to Qatar or Egypt where they would have no idea where to begin. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I do know that the K1 visa is good only for him to enter the US 1 time. If he wants to leave he needs to apply for his AOS which can take like 3 months or more, and during that time he can apply for AP which would allow him to leave and come back. But if he leaves and does not have AP they will not let him back in. Also, I read somewhere here on another post that even if he wants to work somewhere else he needs to get a work authorization here before he can work. Also, I did consult a lawyer before I started this process and asked about my finance returning to Egypt to visit his family, the lawyer said that was fine however he could not stay there for a long period of time like months. For example he cannot stay in the US for 1 month then return to Egypt for 2 months, come back for a couple weeks and return to egypt again for a month or so. So that is something to consider if he is planning on working in Qatar, how long does he plan on staying there and how often will he be returning back to the US. Hope this helps and good luck to you!!!

We would be married already. He was just wondering if he kept his job in Qatar would he be able to sponsor himself if he would continue to work there after he got his visa. I think once he gets it he can travel as he pleases. I didn't know if anyone would know anything about it.

To answer your question, regardless if you're married or not, no he cannot sponsor himself. Are you filing for a K1 or a CR-1? If you are doing a K1 he cannot travel until he receives his greencard or requests for advance parole, if you do a CR-1 he can travel immediately.
