Hello to all.. I Got my GC and got denied EAD.. Now i got my SSN before i filed AOS and and there's a note saying " Not valid to work without DHS authorization" my question is do I need to report to the SSN office saying that I got a GC already and should I ask them if they can give me a new SSN card? Bcoz I'm starting to apply for a job and just in case i will gt a job and they will verify my SSN to the SS office they might say that Im not able to work bcoz at their file my SSN is not valid w/o DHS authorization. Anyone can advice me on what to do pls.... Im a lil bit confused.. Thanks in advance..

Your green card IS your work authorization, so even if your card says that all you need is the GC to prove that you can work. You can still go to SSA and get it removed though - but don't worry about applying for jobs in the meantime if you already have your GC.

As stated, the GC IS your work (or DHS) authorisation. You can go to the SSA and have the "not valid without DHS authorsation" part removed, or you can not bother and simply show your GC which IS your DHS authorisation. Personally I'll go to the SSA and have it removed. There are benefits to having a "clear" SSN I'm told. Obviously I don't know what at the moment but it certainly can't hurt.

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to " Working & Traveling During US Immigration" as this is relating to working after getting your GC**
