Green Card?

Hello,

My wife flew over to the United States on May 22, 2010. She got her social security card after 10 days, but has not yet recieved the green card, or permanant resident card. I called USCIS and the person I spoke with had no clue on what I was talking about. They kept asking me if we file a i-485, but according to everything I read, on a IR1 visa, she should be sent her 10 yr green card after being admitted at the POE. For the people who recently came here, how long did it take for the green card?

Be patient.

It took three weeks for me after POE last year, but green card production has been slower since they changed its design last month.

Wait at least for three months. If you get neither a welcome notice nor a green card, make an infopass appointment.

Today is Day# 29 since POE for me. I entered through Chicago.

No welcome letter yet, no GC either for me.

I called USCIS and they said I'm not even in the system yet.

21 days since POE . No welcome letter yet.

I visited Canada on Friday , and crossed the borders today back to the U.S ! They took me back to my faviorate office .. "The immigration office" accompained by one nice officer and told me on the way to the office "We will try to finish you quickly Sir". They asked me when did you become a PR & POE, I said May 29th at JFK... I asked "Is there any wrong?" He replied Nope! But we need to do your registration.

Anyway,, the officers at Buffalo were extrelemy nice and friendly It took me about 45-60 minutes to finish my papers (including importing a car).

So, I don't know if I should count another 3 weeks now to expect a welcome letter!!

37 days since POE. Nothing.

I did find out from CBP that I was updated on the SAVE system and that they sent the packet out to USCIS the very next day itself.

I got my Welcome Letter 31 days after POE.

No SSN yet though..went to the office last friday to apply for one and they said to expect it in 7-10 days. Hopefully that's true!

You can call USCIS Customer Service. But so far the people that have called haven't really gotten any help from them.

I received my welcome letter date 6/22 on 6/29.

So that was nearly 40 days after POE.

GC status still shows in 'initial review.'

I got the same 'you're not in the system yet' nonsense when I called as well. The only time I got help from USCIS was when I spoke to an actual officer.

what about I-751- Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence ?

do we send it after received the GC , ??

Eeek. NO.

That is only to be sent 90 days before your 2 year GC expires.

No need to worry about it till 2012.
