How to renew an EAD?

Hey all,

After a relatively smooth VJ, my AOS got transfered to CSC in May...but after getting transfered to CSC, we have had nothing but trouble and delays in our VJ. My fingerprints twice got rejected, I sent back an RFE - I had to prove I had no US criminal record - now I just got an email saying they are sending me another RFE.

Last week I got offered an AMAZING career job and I am now worried that everything will be messed up because of this GC problem.

I got my initial EAD in May. I am trying to plan ahead in case I will need to renew it but the USCIS seems to have changed the EAD rules and it is now SO complicated!

-How do I renew my EAD?

-How much time in advance do I need to do it? (I don't want to lose this great teaching job)

-Am I still catergory ©(9)?

-Do I pay the $180 fee again?

-Where do I send the EAD renewal form?

-Do I need to redo the fingerprints plus $70 fees?

All help and advice will be most appreciated.

Kiki

Your EAD is good for one year. I would send in the application about 120 days before it expires (I think the regs say 90). I think all fees apply again. I am not sure if you will had to do the Biometerics again.

I am sure someone will fill in what I may have left off.

Wish you good luck.

I would e-file it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I e-filed my renewal EAD, just don't forget to send the required docs after that. You have to pay the full fee and like others have suggested, apply 3-4 months before the other one expired. That way you can be sure that there won't be any lapse in your Employment docs and you can continue working peacefully. Regarding the category, you will file under "Pending adjustment" (not sure if this is C9 ?? and I'm too lazy to look it up right now... :P ) And no, you don't need to pay fingerprinting fee, that fee is only for AOS, there is no fee for EAD's biometric, and yes you have to do biometric again.

Hope that helps !
