Q I have a SS question for you. So let's say a husband and wife are collecting SS and the husband dies. Does the wife still collect his SS and her's?

what happens is the wife would get a combination of HERS and HIS to equal the higher benefit..

for example wife gets 500 husband get 1000..

husband dies

wife gets $1000 check.. $500 from her and $500 from him..

this is only true if wife is getting the LOWER benefit amount.. if hers is higher then she just continues to get hers ONLY..
