Kathryn that was wonderful! I am very connected to my horse..but holy! haha that was incredible..a very rare moment there..thank you for posting that

SO impressive! I wish I could get my gelding to do lead changes as smoothly! My mare used to before I semi-retired her. lol. And without a bridle or saddle! WOW. The love and training really shows. The spinning and slides without a saddle too...wish I could be that balanced! LOL. My gelding spooked in place once, he spun like a reiner...I almost came completely out of my western saddle! That was great. Thanks for sharing. :)

I used to be able to get my mare to do circles of various sizes, and change directions and figure eights without a saddle and bridle just by leg and seat aids but we only ever worked those at a trot - never a canter so no lead changes like that. It is pretty impressive even when you see her giving the aids, she is so smooth about it. Those sliding stops with rein-backs and the spins are pretty incredible. I love how she put the bridle on the horse to lead him out, hehehe.

Here is another video with some equally impressive horsemanship with a Frenchman called 'Lorenzo the Flying Frenchman' and some Camargue horses. The first Circus-y part looks really neat - and then you see how he trains out in the open sea - and then does the same performances without bridles and saddles as well.
