Hello - I just want to know if there are some of you who had the same case as mine. I am a Green Card holder but needing to travel soon but with Passport expiring in less than 6 mos. I have been assured by my airline that there's no problem with them having my passport expiring in less than 6mos for as long as I return to the US before the expiration date. I want to apply for the renewal/amendment (maiden to married name in my passport) in Manila while I will be there, but got these requirements:

For married women, who want to use surname of their spouse:

Personal Appearance is required

Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO or CTC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.

Anyone know or have experienced having to renew their passports in the Phils while being a US Permanent Resident? How did you do it? I only have marriage contract/certificate from the US being married here. Do I really need the CTC or NSO-paper Marriage COntract?

Thank you in advance.

Hi! My husband went home last February with a Phil. passport expiring last May. Actually, it slipped our minds that it is less than 6mos before his travel since the plan is really to have it renewed here. Luckily, his flight was with PAL so no problem with the expiration of the passport.

The day he arrived is also his scheduled date for passport renewal with DFA since before he went home, we already had his online appointment. Personal appearance is really a must now since DFA is issuing the e-passport. All you have to bring is the application form and marriage certificate plus the payment. As for the marriage certificate, I'm just not sure if you still need to have the NSO copy since you were married in the US. You could actually check DFA's website for more information.

Here's another link where you could email them your questions --> http://dfa.gov.ph/main/index.php/about-the-dfa/contact-us

By the way, we had hubby's passport expedited so to make sure he would have it before he returned back to US.
