what is the difference between a certified copy and a regular photocopy??

A certified copy is as good as an 'original', with official stamps from the office where it was issued. You'll have to request it from the county clerk... usually that's who issues them. Check the 'blue pages' of your phone book and give them a call to be sure...

A certified copy will have a raised seal. I picked this up at my county courthouse. A photocopy will not have that raised seal.

Not true in all counties/states. Ours is from Orlando and there are no raised seals - just stamps (flat) that are red colored on the original and black on the 'certified' copies. They look exactly the same other than the color of the stamp. Just call your county court and they will issue you the certified copies (they were only $2.50 in Orlando so we got three! Good Luck
