Hello,

So the hubby went to SS office to apply for the SS number. The lady said she cannot find his name.

She was going to do a form to be sent to USCIS, but he told her no I will come back another date, yet she went and did the form.

I got so upset because I told him not to do it but go back some other time..

Now how long it takes for his name to pop up?? I told him to go Thursday and ask her to check SAVE database..

Any ideas??

Thanks

Batta

As I recall, it took between two and four weeks for my husband's to show up (he entered on a K-1 also). They also went ahead and filled out the application and gave him a paper to indicate that he had applied for the SSN because at that time, K-1 holders were allowed to work before receiving the EAD card. It didn't seem to slow anything down. However, he did apply before we got married. I don't know whether the fact that your husband's AOS is now in process will make a difference or not.

I'm the USC.

Hi,

We got married just last week and did not file AOS yet because waiting on the certificate of marriage.

My hubby gor the temp EAD stamp.. I told him to go back in few days and see if he show up in system

I guess landing in JFK does not help a lot.

Batta~

I have been battling SS office for the past 2 months! First of all, it took JFK a full month before they sent the paperwork to uscis after POE. That right there had been a delay.

So far, we have been to the social security office 5 times and STILL he doesn't have his number!

Come to find out, the uscis and homeland security had 2 different last name for him. You know how they have multiple last names. Well the green card FINALLY arrived and it has BOTH last names on there.

Last Friday was our last trip to the SS office and the paperwork came back verified by homeland security BUT they still haven't assigned a number to him. The last thing the woman said to us was to give the 7-10 days since his information had been verified by homeland security.

If you should go back to the office, have them look at multiple ways for his last name.

Good luck with getting his number! I hope you don't have to jump through hoops the way we are!!

Hi !

He came in on K-1 visa, on 2010-05-29 .

Need to wait about 16 days from 2010-05-29, and go in, apply.

Hang In There ! You should teach him to listen to you, really !!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

My husband has only one last name but it was wrong in their database , it was right on the I 94. In the database the w got converted to 2 i's . It took several trips to the SS office an email to DHS and my congressperson getting involved to get things on track.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
