And you don't prove bonafide marriage by knowing your spouse's toothbrush color or taking in picturs of you doing IT.

I'm not sure who does the latter or if it has ever been requested by USCIS as proof of relationship, so that's moot.

As for knowing the 'color of your spouse's toothbrush' -- it is not proof of bonafide relationship, yes, and getting that ONE question wrong isn't going to get your AOS/visa denied. But NOT knowing several questions of that nature (shoe size, college, hobbies, who takes out the trash, how many lamps in your living room, favorite author, who sleeps on which side of the bed, how does he like his steak, how does she take her coffee, etc) can be assumed as not having full knowledge of your spouse's background/history and not mingling your lives adequately enough to be considered bonafide or having a genuine relationship.

When you marry a foreigner, you gotta play by the rules set by the government. Otherwise, you can date your neighbors.

Lol. Some people take in pictures of them having sex to prove their marriage.

They should start taking videos, stacks of DVD's.

Electronic Media not allowed INTO the local USCIS office. Sorry.

DVD = 'Electronic Media'

Oh - I suppose one could mail it in with initial casefile submittal, but then what?

It's an interesting article, but it is no where close to being what we encountered when we went for our AoS interview. It was such a non event that I hardly remember it. The adjudicator was pretty much laid back and just basically reviewed our file without any hard personal questions. There was no third degree interrogation at all. We spent more time waiting to be called than the interview actually took. We were in and out quickly after we got called to the back for the actual interview. It must not have thrown up any flags because we didn't even have to go for another interview to remove conditions. We just mailed in the form with the fee and the 10 year Green Card arrived in the mail without another interview.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

OOOOOOOOH - instant rip-off, then?

Nope - that would suck, no performers fees or royalties on distribution.

No No No.

Might open them up to a massive lawsuit, though. Ka-ching!

Did they know the color of each other’s toothbrush? The pattern of the bathroom tile? What had they done last New Year’s? And were they ready to answer far more intimate queries from a government official hunting for signs their marriage was fake?

From New York Times

You know, I don't know the pattern of my own bathroom tile, much less that in my wife's flat in Novosibirsk? This is past bizarre.

I have no idea of the colour of my husband's toothbrush either - I had to go and look - and I still don't know! We change toothbrushes every few months but where I throw mine away he keeps his for using in other ways than brushing teeth (cleaning razor, etc.) so he has at least 5 toothbrushes in his toothbrush holder - which one he uses, I have no idea - (I just hope he does  !), I realized reading this question, I couldn't even tell you the colour of my own current toothbrush either - obviously, I would have flunked the test because I must not have really been me! (I went and looked - it's mauve). I would also have answered the mortgage question with 'its around $XXXX' instead of with the exact figure - and again it changes each year because taxes are included in with the mortgage and they change. It is also deducted automatically from the account, and I honestly don't know what my husband's pay cheque amount is - he is paid by-monthly and the amount isn't the same from pay cheque to paycheque, it too is direct deposit and while he receives statements, I don't open his mail. I know the annual salary - more or less  - but I know he has no idea what my paycheques are (they're small but varying amounts, too, hehehe). I guess we must not have a real marriage even though we are celebrating our 6th anniversary later this week.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
