Sorry for the denial.

You can refile a K-1 or get married and file for a CR-1.

First though, you need to find out the reason for denial so that you can overcome it by frontloading your next petition.

Morocco is a high-fraud consulate, as I'm sure you're aware, and thus, you need to focus and respond adequately.

In reading past threads, you do not want to withdraw the application, but rather let it expire. You do need to find out why they denied it. They sent us a letter stating that it was "proof of relationship" so we know we have to proove the relationship with our CR-1 application after we marry in January. (then they sent us a letter of expiration). If you withdraw the application, so to speak, you prove them right, so let it play its course.

It depends on what service center your application came through. My k-1 technically expired in February. But mine is from Vermont and they are reviewing it even though it is expired technically. (Of course, my marriage to him in a couple weeks will void it anyway). I have heard other centers such as Calif just expire them.

There is also a lady out of an Ohio senator's office who is looking into the reason that there are so many denials out of Casa.

This point is not rocket science, it is pure and simple - fraud, marriage fraud to say the least. And I realize that everyone of you believes your fiances and husbands have the most honest and pure of intentions, but there might be a few who don't and the USEM is not willing to take that risk right now. Casa is such a fickle beast and lately it seems like there are not too many approvals leaving their hallowed halls.

Monica, I am so sorry - I had a little hope that they would approve everything and that you two could fly home together. I wish you all the best in trying to get this straightened out.

PS - I believe you need to delve into Kiyah's pinned thread at the top of the MENA forum.

Even though it says it expires you can still fight it, don't give up. Your chance is to fight it now while they still have it. There have been cases where it was turned around and approved. You want to keep this at Casa right now.

In the event it does come back down the road...you can withdraw the 1st petition, refile another k1 or marry. The consulate will not tell you the reason of denial. Go over the questions they asked your fiance. Any red flags such as age, religion, prior marriage....?

This is a tough time right now but put all your strength into fighting this now.

I couldn't agree more. I think it's probably not the greatest job to have to see people you think are taking advantage of others day in and day out. I also think it'd be tough to make a call when you are on the fence and have to determine whether you think a couple is legit. That being said, and my agreement aside, I think there should be some accountability/checks and balances in how Casa makes their decisions. As you said, Casa is a fickle beast, and sometimes doesn't seem to make any sense whatsoever. A little looking into that shouldn't hurt anyone, imho.

Monica and Hicham's case has caused me to be completely disgusted with Casablanca's consulate, if for no other reason that I know them and have spent time with them together and can see their sincerity. I was there after Hicham's first interview and saw the massive book of photos from her recent trip that the CO flat out refused to look at. I got to hear about how they asked him absolutely no questions about her daughter (who's bonded with Hicham) or the rest of her family. And lastly, I saw how they left Hicham and Monica with a sense of hope after their first interview and then waited until they knew she'd be gone from Morocco to just RIP it away.

After relationships with several Moroccan men, believe me, I'm the FIRST woman to be skeptical of Moroccan men. I'm surrounded by them, and I don't trust 95% of them. That being said, I trust and like Hicham, and the results of this case are mind blowing and disgusting to me, and SOMEONE has to look into the policies at this consulate, otherwise they might as well post a notice on their website announcing that they're no longer taking K1 applications, because its a HUGE waste of everyone's time and energy and emotion to keep jumping through their hoops only to fall into a fire.

OK rant over.

I have no idea what is up with that consultate, but I have a feeling that they are doing some serious reviews of files, of emails, chats, webpages, etc. I actually think that many times people aren't denied based on veracity of one's love but on their intended's previous actions. Did this person previously apply for a work visa? Did this person have other women who applied for a K1 for them and was denied? When they did a search on social networking websites did this person have pages allover the place and did they state they were actively looking for a mate? There are plenty of variables - pick one.

I don't know what the specifics are, and I have no idea about this case, just offering ideas. You have to take it on faith that Casa did their due diligence in this case and tried to approve it but due to extenuating circumstances chose to deny it.

Well, if that's the case.. I really hope they dig through our Facebook pages.. maybe then they might actually get to look at some photo evidence and notes from my family to him.. cause they sure don't seem to like to do it during interviews.. :bonk:

Monica, I am so sorry. As others have said, I had a lot of hope for you and your denial is an example of my worst fears about Casablanca. The capriciousness, the refusal to view evidence, the apparent inability to distinguish between the sincere and the fake, the bizarre bureaucratic timing of it all and lack of meaningful review. I hope you get good information from Kiyah's pinned thread, from your elected officials, and hopefully from the consulate itself, and you can turn this thing around as quickly as possible to reunite your family. Good luck! I hope the woman in Ohio is able to get some answers, too. Not on the overall rate of denials, as I'm sure there IS a LOT of fraud, but on the methods and the apparently fickle decision making.

Ok...i'm going to try to write this calmly & retionaly, excuse me if I don't. Hicham was DENIED this morning...no questions asked or anything. They brought him back and said, We are not approving your case, we will be sending it back to the US and you can move on with the next step of marriage."

This popped out at me. Did they really say this? It seems like they are suggesting that you get married. Why would they say this?
