where in the world did you get that he was on drugs or that this had anything to do with drugs? im curious

I think the confusion comes from the fact that people here don't know what "pig-narced" means. In typical US 'street talk', the term "narced" means reported for drug use.

The suicide attempts are not documented with the police, and aren't on any kind of file so that should not be an issue, I hope...

The question may be asked at the medical. So, I assume then that nobody called for any medical assistance for either of these suicide attempts, and the doctor whose managing his meds isn't aware of them?

The maximum sentence for injuring with intent is ten years :( looks like i need to go into very big debt and get a very good attorney. *headdesk*

Of course, it's up to the consulate to determine if the crime constitutes an inadmissibility, but I'm guessing it does. Get a copy of the police report, if possible, and then consult with an immigration attorney. A consultation won't cost much, if anything. You can't apply for the hardship waiver until he's actually denied a visa at the interview.
