I would like tpo respond to your post, but itseems as if you are mixing apples and oranges. To adjust from a LPR to a USC requires you to submitt the N-400 form, and there are resident requirents. The $1010 dollar fees is associated with adjusting your status to become a LPR (Legal Premenant Resident), aquiring a GC status.

So, I am not sure which process you are actually aquiring about.

Okay, if you are talking about ROC (Removing Conditions) then it will be the I751.

She is not yet eligible for citizenship.... you must remove conditions on her residency first.... via I-751....

YMMV

You have a whole year to get a joint account, didn't your wife just arrive here on US soil. To answer your question, no one can make you have a joint account with your wife, this is an option. Don't start stressing until you are ready to file, there are many more things you and your wife may have at that time to prove that you'll are functioning as a happy married couple.

It is not necessary to have a joint bank account to lift conditions. We didn't and were successful with no RFEs or interviews. We had plenty of other evidence though.

You don't have to open a new account you can just add her to your existing account. Its an option.

All very good answers... It all comes down to the fact that its better to be safe than sorry. You dont HAVE TO have a joint account with your wife, but it would be wise to do so just to be safe... For example, at the ROC stage, many IOs look for joint accounts and joint tax returns specifically to prove that there has been not just a bonafide relationship but also a co-mingling of funds... The tax returns (filing jointly/married) is the ultimate proof to some while others look to joint accounts or health insurance as sufficient...

To sum it all up, think about it as an option; you can have your separate account but also have one with her... It also looks good to the IO because that way you both have access to mutual funds if needs be... All the best

Your application will not be approved or denied for the sole reason of a Joint Account. People may or may not have a joint account. BTW joint account is not mandatory. The USCIS will look at the comprehensive picture of your relationship.
