Hi all,

Im a newbie here.I've been browsing and reading the forum and trying to learn as much as possible.I posted this on the student forum but maybe more people here maybe able to help. I am on a F1 status here and met my bf ( an USC ) here last year. We are madly in love and want to marry now. He too is a student living with his parents. They don't approve of our relationship, he's dependent on them. I've enough assets for 3x times for the affidavit of support. What we do not have is joint tenancy agreements, bank accounts etc.Anyone know if there are any problems if a student( he is 21 in August) files a petition for me as his spouse if we marry now? We both want to be together as soon as possible. Thanks this is a great forum.

Hi, Lovemad, and welcome! As Krikit said, read the guides and browse the forum for AOS from other visas, pretty much everything you need to know will be in there.

It's not necessarily a deal-breaker, but the whole process would probably go smoother for you if you and your fiance set up housekeeping ASAP and commingled your finances, in addition to getting married. I wasn't clear from your post that you were going to live together right away, but USCIS really wants to see proof that you have joined your lives, as evidence of a bonafide marriage.
