Hi,

4 weeks for SSN? I went in to the SS office on June 2nd and filed for SSN she told me i could come back the next day and they could give me the number, which i did. Then last thursday i got my card in the mail. I went into the office to get my card if you mailed yours then it can take a lot longer. You should call your local SS office and ask if they have your number available. They won't give it to you over the phone but they can say whether it is there and you can come pick it up. At least that is what they did for me.

you need to go back to SSA office, talk with supervisor, check case status.

Bring Passport, birth certificate, and Green Card

if they sent off for DHS/USCIS verification - they screwed up.

They were supposed to LOOK YOU UP in the SAVE database, using yer VISA name.

Go back, talk with the boss, request a SAVE db lookup, and see what happens.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank You for your replies.

I have the old SS card which states that it is authorized for work only, from a previous visit here with work and travel program...so I have the number, just needed a new card, due to changes in immigration status. They deffinetly screw up something there... it cant take that long. :bonk:
