Hi Everyone. I am posting this question for a friend.

He is an American guy with a troubled past, has been involved with drugs and other problems. He has criminal records when he was youger, about 10-15 years ago. Now his life is so much better and working as a Chaplain in a church. He was once divorced and planning to marry a Filipina two months from now.

Are they going to have a problem in USCIS because of his background?

Do they need to consult a lawyer to help them through the process?

What other papers does he need to submit along with I-130 to prove that he's a changed man?

Thank you so much for all who would give their valuable response..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

Some sexual predator type crimes that fall under the Adam Walsh act can have an effect, otherwise not so much

YMMV

Thanks. I do not think he has been a sex offender. He is just worried that his kinda dark past would affect their immigration process.

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......
