PI wedding: how soon do you get the marriage certificate

Hello all!

We'll be married in Tagum City here in 4 days! Just curious if immediately after the civil ceremony we will receive any type of marriage certificate?

I leave for Germany (where I'm stationed in the US Military) 2 days after our wedding day and would like to bring back a marriage certificate if at all possible so that I'm able to present it to my personnel office and finance office, as well as for the I-130 process in the US Embassy in Frankfurt.

took us about 1 month to get it...

We were told it could be as much as 6 weeks to receive....once all the appropriate paperwork has been filed after your marraige.

We paid for "expidited" service :lol: and got our paperwork in a little over 2 weeks.

Everything is always hurry up and wait!!! :yes:

Ours took 3 days. The mayor was a distant relative of my wife, so I'm sure that helped.

With the right incentive, it is possible to get it in 2 days. :unsure:

Wow, my brother in-law works for the NSO and he was able to process it quick once he got it but the delay was that Butuan City Hall mails all certificates to NSO at the end of each month.

April 24, 2010: Married in Butuan City
May 23, 2010: Submitted I-130
May 28, 2010: NOA-1 Received
October 19, 2010: NOA-2 Received
October 26, 2010: Case Number Assigned
October 28, 2010: IIN Received

When we got married on a Saturday, the pastor registered the marriage certificate on the next working day ( Monday) and we were able to get our copy that it was registered to the municipal hall before the end of the week.But after getting it , I requested for certified xerox copies from the Registrar's office with the NSO officer signature at the back , it took me a week and a half to get it . That is what we used to apply for i-130and when we are about to be in the NVC stage , I requested the NSO copy from the National Statistics Office and that is what has been submitted in the NVC.

To get the NSO certificate it will take about 1-2 months depending how helpful municiple hall is. My wife got the gold seal copy in about a week IIRC (it is the carbon copy of all the signatures and license with a gold seal attached). A photocopy of that will work for the petition or the SOFA visa....but definately get a couple copies of the NSO verified copy on the security paper.

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

The NSO copy is only needed at the interview stage and Adjustment of Status if you go the K3 route. The certified Municipal Hall Marriage Certificate works for the I-130 process.

Naturalization

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date
